This case study shows the process and outcomes of a measured survey Real Scan carried out for the conversion of a retail space into a Venchi chocolate shop on London’s iconic Carnaby Street. This project shows the importance of meticulous planning to transform a traditional shop into a modern retail experience that aligns with Venchi’s prestigious brand.

Context and background
Nestled in the heart of London’s vibrant Carnaby Street shopping district in London’s west end, the site offered an excellent opportunity to extend Venchi’s presence. The aim was to create an inviting space that accurately reflects the brand’s luxury status and Italian heritage, providing an immersive chocolate experience to shoppers and tourists alike.  

Measured survey 

Methodology 

A combination of laser scanning, and manual measurements were taken to capture the exact dimensions of the existing retail space. We paid detailed attention to the architectural features that needed to be preserved or accentuated to meet the design and functional requirements of this high-end chocolate shop. 

Findings 

The survey indicated several structural and design opportunities, such as optimizing display areas and enhancing natural light to create a welcoming ambiance. It also identified the need for upgrades to support the specific conditions required for chocolate and gelato preservation.
